Today in French we continued our 5 au quotidien, had a quick break outside for some capture the flag, and then discussed elements of writing a narrative. I told a funny story about how my dad, when he was a kid, asked his mother in passing if he could have a baby duck that his friend was giving away. Not really listening, she said "sure, sure" and carried on with whatever she was doing. So, at the end of the day, my dad brought home a baby duck! Needless to say, my grandmother was NOT amused...but she did end up letting him keep it! I'm asking students to find a personal story, whether about them, a family member, or friend, and then we will rewrite it using the essential elements of a narrative and using the 6 Big Questions.

If over the weekend you could discuss such a story, that would help them begin writing on Monday.

In math we continued with estimating division. Several students worked on funny word problems written around the room, while others worked in a small group with me for some extra support. We will be beginning long division tomorrow.

At the end of the day, our class and Mlle Rubletz's class came together to do Reading Buddies. Each week on day 3, the grade 8 and our class will meet in our room, and find their assigned "buddy" or small group. They will read together, to each other, and play word games such as Bananagrams, SLAM! and Mots Rapido. It appeared as though everyone was having a good time!

Just a reminder that students will have their spelling test (dictée) tomorrow.

Have a great evening!
