Minute to Win it

This afternoon we were very busy! We first took a look at some important ideas and strategies from the Gr5 Kids in the Know program, which is designed to keep students safe (e.g., from strangers, online, from friends). We talked about why it might be difficult to talk to a safe adult about an uncomfortable situation you might've had, and ran through some scenarios of a keep secret (your aunt's surprise party) vs. a speak secret (someone threatens to beat up your friend).

On a lighter note, while several students from the class were off on a field trip, the rest of us played Minute to Win it! If you haven't seen the show, contestants have 1 minute to do a task, and get points for completion. We had several interesting and challenging activities, and students took turns playing and timing each other. Ask your child what their favourite task was! Here are a few highlights from the afternoon:
