What a cold and rainy day it was! But that didn't seem to put a damper on the students' enthusiasm for the day.

I was pleased to see that all students had finished, or were just about finished, their plans for their stories. I've asked that if they would like to use Storybird or another digital medium to write up the good copy of their story, to please bring their own device if possible (tablet or laptop). We do have 4 in the class, and I can occasionally borrow from another class, but there simply aren't enough for everyone unfortunately...

In math, students worked in small groups or individually on studying for the Ecqts on Tuesday. I worked with a small group of students who had questions and needed some extra support. During recess, another 8 students stayed in to practice and review with me. I was very impressed with their dedication to their studies.

In the cold drizzle, we headed outside after lunch, along with some friendly parent volunteers (thanks again for joining us!) The entire school ran, walked, and jogged around the perimetre of the school, stopping for pictures and to chat with some police officers and other special guests. The run was cut short unfortunately due to the weather, but we managed to grab a school picture and listen to a short speech about Terry Fox from Orangeville's MPP.

Coming back inside, students received a popsicle (although I think hot chocolate would've been a better choice for today!) and tried to dry off their soaked and grass encrusted shoes and clothes... We had 20 minutes of free time before wrapping up for the day, during which most students chose to continue working on their story, studying for math, or working on their art from yesterday. What an amazing class - I give them free time, and they want to keep working!

Just a reminder, please don't come to school tomorrow! Yes I will be there, but I'm sure you'd like a break from me ;) Over the "long weekend" students should be practicing for their dictée on Monday, finishing their story plans and getting a start on their rough copy, studying for math, and collecting items for their science activity.

Have a wonderful weekend!
