We started our day off in the gym, working as a team during an obstacle course, and while trying to knock off an opponent's ball from their pylon. Students have also started taking responsibility for our warm up and cool down during physical education class. In pairs, students lead the class with dynamic stretches to warm up, and static stretches to cool down. We watched two short videos in health class at the end of the day, one being from the Sacramento Kings' basketball coach, on the importance of warming up and cooling down our bodies.

During math, we are sort of continuing our study of decimals by looking at money. Students had a scavenger hunt to complete, where they looked through many newspaper ads (e.g., Best Buy, Homes for Sale, Freshco) to find objects with prices that matched a certain category (e.g., find something between $10-20). We discussed how in French, the money sign comes after the number, how we use spaces instead of commas (e.g., 500 000,00$ instead of 500,000.00$) and that we say "cents" (French Canada) or "centimes" (France) for cents. These differences can be tricky, so you may want to review them at home. Students also needed to practice writing out the numbers (e.g., 20$ = vingts dollars). Those who did not finish writing out the numbers in class will need to do so tomorrow evening.

We also finished our activity in Health about self-concept, self-esteem, emotional well-being, and reputation. This will certainly not be the last time we discuss these, but it was a good opening activity to the concepts.

Please remember that tomorrow is our Explique ce que tu sais in math. Students should also bring their materials for science.

Bonsoir!
