Around now in the school year is the fun time where I assess students' reading according to levelled readers. I will be doing this with each student individually over the next few weeks, during les 5 au quotidien. The group that is supposed to have guided reading with me that day will instead be practicing their listening skills by watching a favourite Quebecois tv show "Les Parent." You can find some episodes on YouTube and all seasons on Netflix if you'd like to watch at home!

We got to hang out in the library first period, working in our reading groups, checking out books, and playing in the MakerSpace. We will be heading back on Friday to finish brushing up on our researching skills with Mrs. Greer.

In Language, we are starting a new unit of Narrative/Fictional texts. We read "Archie, le paresseux hyperactif" (Archie, the hyperactif sloth), discussed the features of this text, and what elements we think are important for making a book enjoyable. Ask your child if they liked the book!

In Math, we have begun patterning. We discussed the different ways we can make patterns, and explored square numbers (e.g., 4x4=16) by drawing bigger and bigger squares.

The afternoon was dedicated to finishing and sharing our energy science projects. When students were finished, they visited 3 or 4 other groups, learned about their project, and wrote down what that group used to demonstrate potential and kinetic energy. They all turned out great!
