Poppies

This morning we tried something a little bit different for 5 au quotidien. We're going to try do 2 20minute activities, as I noticed that several students were losing stamina after about 30minutes on one task. I'm also remaking their levelled reading groups, now that I've read with everyone individually.

After our APQ break, we watched a really informative and well done video about poppies; what they signify for Remembrance Day, how they are made, where the money raised goes to, and how different poppies look around the world. We are currently making a wreath to place on the stage when we attend our Remembrance Assembly on Friday.

Then students continued to work in their groups, reading some information about how children's lives were during the Second World War and answering questions. Here are some groups hard at work!

In math, we tackled the questions from yesterday, and took them up together. We also discussed the 24hour clock - why and when it's used, how to calculate time, similarities and differences from a 12hour clock... If you could practise at home, that'd be great!

We also had a visit from our reading buddies!

Please read the IMPORTANT INTERVIEW INFO mini-newsletter regarding parent/guardian - teacher interviews. Hope to see everyone over the next couple of weeks!
