This morning after 5 au quotidien, we continued our narrative unit in French Language by planning the back of a book. Rather than writing an entire story, we will focus on what important elements need to be included on the back of a book to make them inciting. Students will continue their planning tomorrow.
In math, students played catchup on several items relating to our time work. Most students needed to make corrections to the checkin we had on Friday, several students hadn't finished their math homework from last Thursday or needed to make corrections, and a few moved on to some more practice questions. Tomorrow we will be continuing our measurement unit, looking at volume.
After second break we had music. I showed a brief slideshow of a history of music, and we watched a few videos. Then we headed outside, where students drew or wrote what they felt and imagined as songs were played. It was certainly interesting to compare what different people saw or felt afterwards! We also worked on finding the rhythm in songs, and went over different note values. I wish I could've taken pictures outside but my phone was being used for the music! For the last 20min, students analyzed a song of their choice using the critical process (Initial Reaction, Description, Analysis of the Music, and Finally Point of View). This was to be completed for homework if not finished in class. Here are many students listening to their song and using the critical process!
