Volume

We continued work this morning on our new assignment, designing and writing up the back of a book. Many students are really coming along! I've asked that all plans be finished for Friday so that we may continue along as a class.

In math we quickly cleared up a few things about calculating time. One homework question had asked that students calculate the time between 3:45:02 and 4:12:02 - many students simply tried to subtract these two numbers. We talked about how this just isn't possible to do with time, and that you get a very strange, nonsensical answer. Drawing a clock, using the paper clocks we made, or making a timeline would be a more efficient approach.

We then started with volume. Today we explored the volume of blocks, taking up space. All students finished their work in class as we had an impromptu cancellation of our reading buddy time with Mlle Rubletz's class. We also used that extra time to work on planning the back of our books, so most students completed this as well.

We had a whole 5min at the end of the day, as everyone cleaned up the classroom and packed up quickly, so we ran around outside in the sunshine! Cross your fingers this weather lasts for a while longer!

Just a reminder to please book a parent/guardian-teacher interview with me! Only 13 parents have signed up so far!
