This morning most students finished their good copy of a back of a book. They look great, and will be displayed outside the classroom! Marked rubrics are being sent home over this week.
After some time outside (in between the rain showers!), we finished our 12 Days of Winter song - The Twelve Days of Christmas, but more inclusive for those who don't celebrate Christmas, and in French! Hooray!
In math, I wanted to see how things were going in terms of the 4 different types of graphs we've learned so far. Students received 18 Skittles, and then drew each of the 4 graphs according to how many of each colour they received. Let me tell you folks, I have never seen such a focused, independently-working, driven math period before ;) But more importantly, everyone had their graphs right! Some people were missing a few titles (those pesky titles) but managed to come up with good ones for their graphs as they couldn't eat the Skittles until they were finished ;)

The last two periods, we made up music that we missed yesterday due to the assembly. We watched part of The Polar Express to get the atmosphere of the second song we'll be singing. Lots of great music in this movie! Then we discussed how to sing properly (e.g., where our diaphragm is, sitting up straight, not straining our throat) and warmed up using a voice coach on YouTube. Best moment was when Mr. P, our neighbour, barged through the door "DID I HEAR JOSH GROBAN?? WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING?" haha. Then we worked on singing the first verse of "Believe" sung by Josh Groban in the movie. Some students were more enthusiastic than others, but I think we'll all get more comfortable the more we practice. It was sounding pretty nice by the third time around! Here's the song if you'd like to practice at home! PS. We will be splitting into alto and soprano parts a bit later!
