PhysEd started off our day this morning, where we warmed up with a treasure hunt relay race and then worked on layups and bounce passing for basketball. After our workout, the last few people finished their letters and the back of their book.

In math, we looked at histograms, or "diagrammes à bande à intervalles." We compared as a class the amount of time it took students to arrive at school each morning, and then students tried a few questions on their own. Less exciting than with Skittles, but fun nonetheless ;)

We continued our math after second break, and then finished up our Health posters on internet safety, cyberbullying, and netiquette. We briefly started our new unit on understanding alcohol use - we looked at a few kid's movies that had scenes of people drinking (e.g., Dumbo the Elephant, Elf) and tried to analyse what we saw, just to open up a discussion. Students had great observations, for example that the audience was supposed to find the scenes funny, even if people were falling over and could get hurt. We will be continuing a bit more tomorrow.

PS. I know that this can be a touchy subject, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me, or look through the Ontario Curriculum for Health.
