I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I got up all of our "back of a book"s up! They look great!

This morning we did some desk organizing (as my Staple's order of new duotangs and such finally arrived!), 5 au quotidien, and then worked on some verbs! I know, collective uugghhh for the verbs. But, they have to be done, as ALL students need a lot of work with conjugation. Many thought they knew it, but reviewing as a class said otherwise. We're looking at regular -er, -ir, and -re verbs in the present tense. Lots of practice sheets and games on the internet if you'd like to do more at home. We'll be playing verb battleship after a bit of practice!
In math, we looked at real graphs (e.g., 14 day weather trend for Orangeville, Child poverty rates per province) and wrote down 3 things we learned from each graph. We also brainstormed a research question, that we will find answers to and write up in graph format next week.
After math, we looked into some problems that the First Nations peoples and French Europeans were experiencing in New France, came up with our own solutions, and then watched a few video clips on what the king of France decided to do. Many students were shocked about girls (les Filles du Roi) being sent over simply to increase the population. We also rotated through a few centres learning about treaties, and more specifically, wampum belts.

Last period we were in the gym, practicing our b-ball skillz. Today we worked on dribbling, and did various activities and drills where students of all levels could practice. There was some real improvement by the end of the class!
With the snowy weather, please ensure your child's name is on all of their belongings (snow pants, mitts, etc) as we spent a good 5min today sorting out whose stuff was whose on the ground and in the hallway. Thanks!
