I wanna iguana

Our morning began with 5 au quotidien, some time running around outside in the chilly air, and then beginning our next writing unit - letters! We read "Je veux un iguane" (I Wanna Iguana) where the main character writes letters back and forth to his mum, trying to convince her to let him have his friend's iguana. It's a great story. In groups, students then put back together cut up letters, to try and figure out how they flow together. We talked about the important parts that would need to be included in a letter.

For math, we finished up our questions that we started yesterday, on interpreting graphs where the scale on the vertical axis was different but the data was the same. I think it's great this unit is so visual, as all students seem to really be grasping our graphing concepts.

In the afternoon, Mlle Rubletz's Gr8s had a special presentation they were attending, so instead we finished our centres for Social Studies. Ask your child about wampum belts and our special guest next Friday!

Last period was a bit of a mishmash of people finishing math, finishing their writing good copies for English, and coding. The period flew by!

I also have some bad news. Someone ate one of our advent calendar chocolates for day 11. I'm not sure who it was, but I sure hope it was a random student who snuck in during recess time or after school and not someone from our class. I'm pretty disappointed either way. Good news is, Mlle Bradfield always has more chocolate!
