Happy Saturday morning folks! I know this time of year is busy, so thanks for taking a moment to read about our past 2 school days!
Thursday we had a couple of interesting things to note - In math, we learned about the mode (le mode) and the mean (la moyenne), in terms of numbers and graphing. We tried a few questions as a class before working on questions individually. Here is one student per group levelling out our group towers to find the mean!

Later in the day, we also continued our important discussion on alcohol use. We compared percentages in beer, wine, and liquor, and then groups classified short-term effects and long-term effects. We will continue to take these up this coming week.
On Friday in Science, we explored gravity as an external force on structures. Each group was given lots of marshmallows and toothpicks and 15min to create whatever they determined was a stable structure. We then wrote down some predictions for the tests their poor structures were about to endure! Each group tested their structure under the force of intense wind (our classroom standup fan), unstable ground (a casserole dish of jello), and too much weight inside the building (small hanging weights). Ask your child how they designed their structure and how it held up!

I'll also write a more formal note home, but for planning purposes, our Winter concert will be at 8:55am until 10:25, all the grades, on Wed. Dec. 21st. So practice those songs!
Don't forget to read 20min of French a day and keep track in your reading log (carnet de lecture), as I need to see these Monday. Have a super weekend!
