I'm glad everyone got to school safely! I'm coming from Guelph, it was a bit of an adventure...
Our day got a bit moved around, so we had physEd first period - outside. It was chilly but a lot of fun in the new snow! We warmed up with some 5 au quotidien after we came in.
The following period, we did some more work with le mode et la moyenne (mode and mean). We ended up spending most of the period and the next working on these questions, but it was time well spent as students seem to have a good grasp by the end. We're also starting to read a novel as a class, Un voyage inattendu, given to us for the Forest club by Mrs. Greer. I will be reading about 10-15min a day of the book, so ask your child for updates!
In social studies, we are doing a short research-based project where students have chosen a topic or person from the 1600-1750s and are writing up some important facts relevant to our learning and understanding of New France. When they are finished, we will be stringing our timeline across the class!
Last period, we worked on our letter writing and together wrote a note to Mr. P asking him for our Timbits from winning the snowman-building contest. Students also learned of a new activity we will be doing over the rest of the school year...I have found us some pen-pals in Foulayronnes, France! I joined the epals.com community, and our two classes will be matched up student to student. They will send messages back and forth email-style! More details to come! Today we took a look on Google Maps at the village and came up with some things we already knew and things we would like to know. Here are a few of the students' ideas:
