Mixed Up Thursday

Today was a bit of a jumbled but productive day!

We have moved onto Dance - and don't worry, I promised I won't be standing at the front having everyone follow my ballet moves! We tried moving in various ways to music, in a musical chairs/freeze dance activity, did some mirroring, and follow the leader.

Next we began our procedural writing unit. We talked about when we would use this type of writing and came up with a list including building Lego, GPS, and recipes.

In math, we began geometry. We learned the definitions for a shape and a polygon and drew some for practice. We then did a partner activity where one person made a shape/polygon with yarn, describe it to their partner, and then their partner tried to recreate it. It turns out students already knew a lot of geometry terms, including corners, straight line, curved line, etc. Here are a few pics:

In health, we talked about different factors that affect levels of intoxication when drinking alcohol, and ideas on how to refuse alcohol and pressure. Students then formed groups and decided on what medium they would like to use to present their final project, to show their knowledge from our substance use unit.

Tomorrow will also be a bit mixed up due to the snow days!
