Dance Through Stories

This morning we caught up on some science, finishing our experiments with pulleys and ramps. We went outside for some physical activity, and then fit in a rotation of 5 au quotidien.

For math, we looked at triangles, and found out they fit into 3 main categories. Students categorized the triangles according to their side length and made their own with pipe cleaners. We also discussed symmetry! Students found objects in the room that were symmetrical (harder than you think!) and figured out which type of triangle couldn't be symmetrical.

The last block we explored dance as storytelling. We warmed up through figuring out our difference balance points by trying out 10 different poses. Some were easier than others! Ask your child what they found challenging vs were no problem.

Then we watched a few video clips and tried to figure out their storyline through the music, title of the piece, facial expression, costumes, and movement. There was a lot to analyze! Finally, students got to try making a story of their own by rolling a set of Story Cubes to create a ridiculous story. They created dance movements to go with each cube and put it all together! They were um...creative...and hilarious to say the least!

Join us tomorrow for the Respect Assembly if you can! 2:25-3:10 :)
