To end our very short week, we played a new game called Ships in the gymnasium. Teams of 6 had 2 mats as their ship, 6 bowling pins as their buoys holding up their ship, and 3 dodgeballs to start. The point of the game was to try and hit down the other 3 teams' buoys but not fall off the boat! Students on rolling boards were the lifeboats and collected thrown balls around the gym. It was a lot of fun and great to see everyone work so well together in their teams! Back in room 12, we continued with our critique of a YouTube "how to" video.
In math, we learned about 3D nets, or how a 3D shape looks when it gets folded out. We used wooden 3D shapes to try drawing a few of our own, then chose a couple to draw, cut out, and tape together.

With so many cool 3D shapes, we spent 10minutes making a scene with them, here's how they turned out!

In the afternoon, we continued with our math, and then switched to a new Health topic. We've begun healthy eating! It's going to be a lot more interesting than just "you should try and eat fruits and veggies..." In teams, students answered several questions about the 4 food groups, and why it might be challenging for some people to eat healthily (e.g., cost of food, picky eaters, temptation, social factors, media advertisements). The last activity of the day was to brainstorm what it meant to be "healthy." Here are some students' ideas I quickly jotted down.

Please check the weather for Monday, it looks like more snow on the way! Have a great weekend! :)
