Healthy Eating

This morning I was away, attending an in-school workshop on using Number Talks, a different math strategy for teaching and learning math. I will be trying this in the upcoming weeks! Students went to the library, played outside, did 5 au quotidien, and had a successful math period with the supply teacher.

When I came back, we got to work on learning about nutrients. We looked at what are nutrients, and delved into the importance of proteins, fats + oils, carbs, vitamins, and minerals for our bodies. Then we examined different food packaging to investigate where these different nutrients were found in the different foods. It would beneficial to look at labels at home!

In the afternoon, we began our Canadian Government unit. We talked about what is govt., its goals, and different types of governments (i.e. monarchy, dictatorship, democracy). We also looked on Google Maps to find countries that fit in each category and what this meant for its citizens.

I really wanted to go outside for Phys.Ed today but it was incredibly wet and muddy. Inside instead, we continued our work on hitting targets by practicing a version of European handball.

Fingers crossed the warm weather continues!
