Illusion drawing

After a regular morning, we got into drawing tree diagrams in math. We discussed different probabilities and possibilities for a number of situations (e.g., making a sandwich, rolling a dice 3 times), and will be continuing our work on this tomorrow.

In the afternoon, we started a new art project. We explored the work of Rob Gonsalves, a surrealist painter from Toronto. Check out some of this amazing work and ask your child which painting was their favourite! http://www.sapergalleries.com/Gonsalves.html

Next, one painting was divided into squares, and each student began working on drawing a part of the grid. All of them will come together in the end to recreate a huge version of the painting! It was interesting to see how much math, particularly fractions, was involved. More on this next week :)
