Beginning Algebra

This morning most students finished up their science models! Boy do they look great! I think I will arrange for other classes to come in and take a walk around, they look quite impressed all together.

Next we had our social studies presentations, on a social or environmental issue in Canada. Some students chose to present in front of the class, while others opted to present to small groups of students who circulated around the classroom. Here are some in action!

In math, we are starting algebra. We tried some tricky questions today, but most students seem to enjoy the challenge. This is an example of one, where you put the missing number value in the tin to equal the amount of coins on the other side. They got trickier as we went along!

After last break, we worked with our reading buddies in the library for some research time. Many groups have gathered most of their information for their French festival! Last period was a work period, although some did not use the time as well as they could have...I think students are getting eager for summer ;)

Due to the thunderstorm, we didn't get to our track and field redos, so hopefully we can get this in tomorrow.
