Word problems

Wow was it ever a toasty one today! This morning we began with some frisbee, both in the gym and outside (it was a bit windy!). Practice at home if you have one, it's a fun summer activity. I'm hoping to bring Alex back in to teacher some Ultimate Frisbee! We then completed some more of our autobiographies.

During math, we looked at several images and tried to find the one that didn't belong. Here's some pics of students explaining their thinking:

We are also working on breaking down word problems in math. This can be a tricky task, but is so important to master. Ask your child what strategies work well for them!

Lastly, we learned about the male reproductive system for health class and answered some questions from the anonymous health box. Students are becoming increasingly comfortable with asking questions, which is great. There were quite a few pregnancy questions however, to which I don't have all the answers, and I suggested they chat with parents or other trusted adult. Many of the females in the room also had several questions about how exactly pads and tampons worked, and while I can provide some guidance, I said I felt that would be a better discussion with parents. Perhaps ask your child if they have any questions, as many looked reluctant to go home and talk about it more haha.

Just a reminder to please bring sunscreen and a water bottle to school!
